UNITED was represented at the Annual General Assembly of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), an EU-focused antiracist network between 21-24 June 2018 in Lisbon.
ENAR is celebrating twenty years of active work on important issues such as racism, Islamophobia, antigypsism and discrimination of minorities in general. UNITED and ENAR has already had several joint actions, and while ENAR primarily concentrates on advocacy and policy, UNITED shares common values and has similar ways of looking at issues and challenges facing Europe and the European civil society.
At the General Assembly, the inter-sectional approach was in focus and how the topic of sexism and feminism should be more clearly categorized as part of the antiracist movements, furthermore, how to foster women taking more leader roles in the NGOs and how to protect them from sexual assault and empower organisations to do more on combating patriarchy within our organisations.
