Call for Participants: Online Workshops “My Privacy – Your Safety”

UNITED for Intercultural Action is organising a series of online workshops on online privacy and safety, with the financial support of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. The workshops aim to increase the capacity of human rights activists and their organisations in protecting their privacy online and to develop a manual offering relevant knowledge and tips for this target group.

Participants who fully participate in the workshop will receive a certificate from UNITED. The training is fully supported, no participant fee or other costs apply.

Programme and Dates

The workshop is designed to be delivered in 3 days (one day per week), starting with an educational focus and then continuing with the collaborative drafting of a manual. The programme offers a great opportunity to get concrete inputs about online privacy and safety, to exchange information and experience, and to work together and create a network with activists from across Europe. Each training day will start at 9:00 and end before 16:00 (CET).

The workshops are organised in three rounds (the first round has been completed), with the same content and methodology for each round. The applicants can select one or more of the following options:

2nd round: 28 April, 5 May and 12 May 2021

3rd round: 19 May, 26 May and 2 June 2021

You can read the detailed programme here:

Who can apply?

There are two basic criteria for selection:

  • To be a resident of one of the member states of the Council of Europe
  • To have experience in online human rights activism and a strong interest in online privacy and safety

Geographical and gender balance will be taken into consideration in the selection process. As the activity aims to empower youth, priority is given to applicants under 30, but we also encourage every age group to apply.

How to apply

If you meet the above criteria, fill in and submit the below application form until 27th April 2021, 18:00 CET.

The application form asks you to choose at least one round of workshop for which you will be available to attend. Please select as many options as possible to increase your chance of being selected.

25 participants will be selected for each round. As we expect a high number of applications, only the selected applicants will be informed. Results of selection (including information on which round the applicant has been selected for) will be notified via email until 31 March 2021.
