UNITED is opening the opportunity for delegates of UNITED supporter organisations to become members of UNITED’s Youth Advisory Board.

Role of the Youth Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is responsible to oversee UNITED’s Secretariat with vision, strategy, resources, networking and accountability, based on the network organisations’ needs and objectives. Board members take part in decision-making processes, guiding quality improvement, assessing effectiveness of UNITED activities, as well as offering innovative advice and dynamic perspectives.

Structure of the Youth Advisory Board

The Advisory Board will consist of 5-9 international members who are delegates of supporter organisations. 70% of the delegates will be selected from applicants under the age of 30. Gender and geographical balance will be taken into consideration.

Mandate:  The mandate of Board is two years.

Responsibilities:

  • to attend four out of the six annually scheduled online meetings.
  • to attend face to face annual meetings.
  • to attend at least one of the two annual conferences.
  • to review and approve the institutional 3-years general strategy;
  • to represent UNITED in official, institutional, public and other types of events, upon request of the Secretariat and/or the Network;
  • to advise the Secretariat and/or the Network on issues of relevance for the network;
  • to help the Secretariat and/ the Network in monitoring, assessing and evaluating its strategies, activities, and results;
  • to be available to review and comment on documents submitted by the Secretariat, upon request of the Secretariat or the Network;
  • to provide contacts and resources to make the work of UNITED more efficient, upon request of the Secretariat or the Network;
  • to oversee UNITED’s Secretariat with vision, strategy, resources, networking and accountability;
  • to work on the selection of AB members, with the Secretariat;
  • to maintain a relationship with the UNITED Network and stakeholders.

Commitment

Board Members are expected to allocate appr. 10 hours per month to contribute to the work of UNITED and attend regular meetings (both personal and online).

The position is voluntary, no financial compensation is offered to the members.

  • Passionate about UNITED’s mission and values.
  • Solid foundation of work on youth, anti-discrimination, human rights, and minorities rights.
  • Resourceful people with a strong network.
  • Being a member/volunteer of a supporter organisation of UNITED
  • Ability to speak and write professionally in English.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a diverse and, international team
  • Organisational experience

 

Selection

Applicants are required to fill in the application form and attach their CV highlighting their relevant experience. Board members will be selected by the current UNITED’s Advisory Board and Secretariat.
