The European Action Week Against Racism is one of the main campaigns for UNITED and when reflecting on the challenges of 2024, we couldn’t help but focus on how it marks a pivotal moment in history—the largest global call to vote since universal suffrage began.
As an independent anti-racist, anti-nationalist-and ant-fascist Network in fact we keep our commitment in stressing inequalities and in empowering all voices.
For this reason we want to call our Network and everybody else to start a true and meaningful mobilisation towards the next EU Parliamentary Election as an inspiration to monitor and to critically analyse the other elections happening all over the world, identifying those candidates and parties who oppose human rights and use propaganda and polarisation to spread hatred and divide people.
The upcoming EU Elections are therefore an opportunity to do better and to limit this authoritarian wave from spreading after has already overtaken Russia, is about to hit India and worries us when looking around Europe and to the upcoming US elections even further.
We can prevent this from happening by taking care of who is under and mis-represented: Minorities, migrants and refugees that have progressively been weaponised at every election, despite being absent or very lowly present in parliaments everywhere.
