Julie Ward spent 40 years working as a cultural activist prior to being elected to the European Parliament. She authored a report on Intercultural Dialogue for Diversity, Education and Fundamental Values, in response to the Charlie Hebdo murders. She was Vice Chair of the Culture & Education Committee, served on the Committee for Women’s Rights & Gender Equality, and was Co-chair of the Anti-racism and Diversity Intergroup. Julie now works as an arts in education consultant and volunteer on various boards including Culture Action Europe and Civil Society Forum as well as supporting UFIA and the child rights organisation, International Child Press. Julie holds a Masters in Education and International Development (Newcastle University) and undertook her research project in Brasil. She is a Forum Theatre practitioner.
