Music Across Borders is a new documentary film created and directed by Gameli Tordzro on how music crosses various borders. It responds today’s migration debates and explores musicians’ view on how their music encounters negotiates some of these borders and impacts on people across the world. The film and its screening is a part of Gameli’s research in Creative Arts and Translating Cultures on the RM Borders Project in the University of Glasgow. The film is about Danish Jazz musician and composer Katrine Suwalski with her band Another World, their musical journey to Ghana in 2015 and their collaboration with Ghanaian musicians Tina Mensah aka Elivava and Odomankoma Okyerema Pra. The film explores the musicality of language and treats music as language.The screening programme includes a chat with the director Gameli Tordzro and Composer Katrine Suwalski, and a jazz concert by Katrine’s Another World Band in collaboration with Gameli and Hesu (Spirit of Music) and Ninian Perry and his Paragon Music.
