The Politics of Hate: Community, Societal and Global Responses

Since the INHS’ inaugural conference held at the University of Sussex in 2014, the relevance of hate studies has become even more pronounced, with the current refugee crisis; the rise of the far right in Europe; increasing discussions about racism in policing in the United States; and state sanctioned policies of homophobia and transphobia. The conference will address broad themes such as how is hate crime and hate experienced at the global and community level? What are the latest international policy developments? What is the influence of those developments on national efforts to understand and tackle hate crime?
