The relevance of migration for the NEW URBAN AGENDA

March 17, 2016 /// 00:00

This side-event aims to contribute to an inclusive, successful and pertinent New Urban Agenda – which will result from the Habitat III process – that further consolidates the vital role of migration in the sustainable development of cities and will produce a Recommendations Paper on how to integrate human mobility into the New Urban Agenda based on the Quito Local Agenda and the contributions and insights of organizers and participants. This will be achieved by demonstrating the coherence around the policy and practical evidence outlined in the Habitat III issue paper on Migration and Refugees in Urban Areas, the Habitat III policy paper frameworks and the evidence for policy from the IOM World Migration Report on cities, as well as the more detailed and practical policy discussion outcomes from the Mayoral Forum on Mobility, Migration and Development and the recommendations from the IOM High-Level Conference on Migrants and Cities, to the Habitat III preparations.
