International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism – 9 November – 2021

Join the Campaign!

Speak up now – Fighting fascism is not radical, it’s necessary!

Since the early 1990s, UNITED has coordinated and inspired annual pan-European antifascist activities to mark 9 November, the International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism. We aim to commemorate the victims of the “Kristallnacht” pogrom of 1938 and, more broadly, victims of the Holocaust and of fascism throughout history. Further, we want to raise awareness about the dangers of nationalism, racism, antisemitism and neo-fascism today. We mobilise different groups and individuals to build a UNITED front against hate ideologies and violence.

Take Action!

Hundreds of organisations and informal groups of all kinds have taken an active part in the campaigns. It is time for you, too! The campaign is pluralist and open: there is a place and a space for all. Organize activities around 9 November! It doesn’t need to be a huge national event – it can also be a small local gathering. If you need some inspiration for your activity, you can always check the list of Best Practices or have a look at our how-to organise an activity page. Events such as public discussions, meetings with eye-witnesses, demonstrations, commemoration activities, poster and media actions or cultural events can be organised quite easily, and can have a huge impact in spreading awareness about the 9th of November. We also recommend having a look at the Human Library and how to use Holocaust education in antiracism work.If you organise an event, we highly appreciate it if you inform us. We will spread your event via our Social Media channels and invite other grassroots organisations in our network in your region to your event!

STAY UPDATED – Follow the #DayAgainstFascism online

Throughout 9 November, UNITED will be tweeting and posting on Facebook about the 9 November activities happening all over Europe. Make sure you LIKE the Facebook page and FOLLOW UNITED on Twitter to stay up-to-date with the campaign. If you are organising or taking part in an International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism activity, post about it using the hashtag #FightFascism #SpeakupNow #9November #DayAgainstFascism and UNITED will spread the message.
