Between International Women’s Day (8 March) and International Roma Day (8 April), UNITED network organisation Anti Discrimination Centre “Memorial” is conducting a special campaign in solidarity with the Roma of Donbass.

To mark 21 March, UNITED network organisation Zivilcourage und Anti-Rasissmus-Arbeit (ZARA) published its annual report on racism in Austria.

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) marked 21 March, the International Day for the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, with the publication of its general policy recommendations on combating hate speech.

Representatives of cities all over Europe have shown their opposition to racism by joining UNITED’s “Strength In Diversity” campaign for the European Action Week Against Racism 2016.

This year, to mark the European Action Week Against Racism, UNITED coordinated a special poster competition, and invited activists from all over Europe to submit designs under the theme of Strength In Diversity! The winners were announced on 21 March.

UNITED was represented at the Music Freedom Day 2016 event at the Bakelit Multi Art Centre in Budapest. UNITED’s Balint Josa gave a speech to launch an exhibition of photos donated by the Council of Europe.

Ahead of the upcoming UNITED conference in Torino, UNITED caught up with EUROCLIO director Jonathan Even-Zohar to ask his opinion on the refugee crisis, and the role of historians and history teachers in challenging the prevalent narrative on migration.
