On the occasion of International Roma Day, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, reaffirmed the Council of Europe’s support for the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture, which will be launched in Berlin later in 2016.

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) marked 21 March, the International Day for the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, with the publication of its general policy recommendations on combating hate speech.
Representatives of cities all over Europe have shown their opposition to racism by joining UNITED’s “Strength In Diversity” campaign for the European Action Week Against Racism 2016.
This year, to mark the European Action Week Against Racism, UNITED coordinated a special poster competition, and invited activists from all over Europe to submit designs under the theme of Strength In Diversity! The winners were announced on 21 March.
